i think im losing my words… google can’t find it.

Gol گل is an archive of uncertain memories reforged with mementos and maintained through reflection. It is an ongoing project created by Leili Arai Tavallaei in 2022.

Gol گل archives the deterioration of memory. It’s a home for the quiet discomfort when you realize you’re missing the details. As the messy byproduct of re-remembering accumulated space for itself, it lives in a real place outside the screen. Organizing and documenting these printed images of family history and recreated mementos, it partially lives here too.

Memories are unreliable and I’m trying to fabricate a space where they can become a little more permanent, a little more tangible, and a little less gone. Archiving these fragile moments solidifies my connections to things that are no longer accessible. Gol گل is the frantic need to catalog everything before it slips through my fingers.

This process of remembering through remaking rebuilds connections to the past and to family, and helps to create my place in it as a legacy of filtered stories, items, and fleeting moments.
